Srinagar, Oct 31 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Bank has received the top CGTMSE award for recording the highest number of guarantee coverage cases in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, recognising its efforts to expand collateral-free credit access for micro and small enterprises. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Bank said the award was presented by the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) at the Member Lending Institutions (MLI) Felicitation Ceremony 2026 in Mumbai. Divisional Head (Rest of India) Riaz Ahmed Wani received the award on behalf of the Bank, accompanied by Zonal Head (Mumbai) Irfan Kawoosa and Incharge GSGD (CHQ) Vikas Aithmia. Welcoming the recognition, J&K Bank MD and CEO Amitava Chatterjee said the award acknowledged the Bank’s efforts to widen access to enterprise credit in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. He congratulated the staff, particularly those in operations, saying their efforts in processing proposals, securing guarantee coverage and supporting borrowers had contributed to the achievement. Chatterjee said guarantee-backed lending was strategically important for strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region, particularly for viable enterprises whose promoters lacked collateral. He said the Bank aimed to extend such support to more eligible entrepreneurs to encourage new enterprises, facilitate business expansion and generate employment across the region. The MD and CEO added that the Bank would continue to strengthen awareness and delivery of guarantee-backed credit across its operational network to help more micro and small enterprises access finance to establish, sustain and expand their businesses. The recognition reinforces the Bank’s focus on expanding formal credit access and supporting entrepreneurship across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.—(KNO)
